Bradley Weiler

Postdoctoral Researcher
Marine Biology & Ecology

Brad earned his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Canada, studying coral disease and deep-sea coral microbiomes, respectively. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Miami in 2024, where he explored coral homeostatic functional programs across natural diel cycles and defined how coral diseases deviate from health using molecular and microbial ecology approaches. During his first postdoctoral position at the University of Miami and NOAA's Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory, Brad built on this foundation to disentangle coral disease mechanisms, focusing on Stony Coral Tissue Loss Disease (SCTLD) across eight coral species to characterize cross-species disease response. He is now extending this work using large language models to predict diagnostic analytes, advancing coral reef conservation, intervention, and mitigation efforts.
